Plastic Hand Surgeons Living in an Orthopedic World: Building an Elective Hand Surgery Practice Fri, Oct 22

Currently, hand surgery is divided into plastic surgery and orthopedic surgery practices. The hand surgery world is dominated by orthopedics due to larger numbers of orthopedic surgeons, however, plastic surgery has much to offer to patients and trainees.

At the end of this activity participants will be able to:

  1. Identify ways to collaborate effectively with orthopedic surgeons.
  2. Discuss conflicts that arise doing hand surgery in the hospital setting.
  3. Outline aspects of the optimal hand surgery training program.
  4. Discuss how to set up an elective hand surgery practice.
  5. Identify ways to get involved in organized hand surgery nationally.
