Thumb replantation surgery is a complex procedure with the desired outcomes aimed at restoring both function and appearance. In this program, panelists will share insights into key considerations for the procedures such as the time since amputation; patient's overall health and infection risks. Surgical techniques including microvascular considerations, bone fixation and the repair of nerves and tendons will be discussed.
Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:
1) Identify common complications 2) Recognize functional considerations in replantation procedures 3) Identify applicable surgical techniques
