Surgical U-Turns: Abandoning Outdated Practices in Surgery Sun, Sep 29 8:00-9:30 a.m. PDT

Panel will critically re-examine historical surgical methods and discuss the evolution of practices. Key topics include the shift away from TUG/SGAP flaps in favor of alternatives that may offer better outcomes or reduced morbidity. The discussion will move to the use of prepectoral expanders, weighing their complications against the benefits of subpectoral placement. Another focus will be the traditional use of loupes versus the adoption of more advanced magnification and visualization technologies. This panel aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how and why certain practices are becoming obsolete and what new techniques are taking their place.
